This raw steel elephant ornament comes gift wrapped in a heavy duty kraft paper envelope with a card explaining the story behind the ornament.

The card reads:
The female elephant is a born leader, ferocious guardian, and a matriarchal symbol of friendship, sisterhood, unity, and strength. When a member of her herd is hurt or weak, she leads the herd in forming a circle of protection around the one(s) that most need it. Standing shoulder to shoulder, they stamp their feet in unison, stirring up dust and mud to conceal the distressed and blanketing the needed with security, support, and love.
We often find ourselves doing this same thing for those we love. We surround ourselves with an incredible tribe, never knowing if we will be doing the kicking or standing in the middle surrounded by the loving warmth of protection our circle provides one another.

Size: 4" long x 2.5" wide

Each piece is thoughtfully designed and created from scratch by husband and wife team, Brandon and Erin Spangler, and produced in our northwest Georgia studio.  We top each ornament with a hemp twine.

RAW STEEL MATERIAL: Our products are made from steel, a vastly used industrial metal, and the most recycled material in the world.  Due to the variations inherent in steel materials, the surface of each piece will likely vary from the picture.  The color, shades, spots, and markings on the metal vary from piece to piece, making each one uniquely different.

Our creations are made out of a durable 14 gauge carbon steel.  Covered with a thin layer of black oxide, this provides the item's gray tint. While this provides a level of protection against corrosion, a beautiful patina of rust can be brought out by a minimal amount of exposure to humidity. If the rust is unwelcome you may rub grade 3 coarse steel wool over the top to remove any and/or all rust.

Steel is an infinitely recyclable material, meaning it can be recycled over and over again.  This greatly minimizes its negative environmental impact, saving energy, reducing landfill waste, and decreasing the mining of iron ore.  Please keep this in mind as you consider the nature of this material, and the variability it shows.
